Natural-Looking Dental Implants in Pittsburgh, PA

Restore Health & Beauty to Your Smile

elderly woman smilingDental implants are the only natural-looking, permanent solution for missing teeth. They consist of a titanium implant post, a small connecting piece called an abutment, and a porcelain crown.

For patients missing multiple teeth or a full arch, implants can also be used to secure a dental bridge or complete denture. No matter how many teeth you’re missing, dental implants can enhance your appearance and protect your health.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants offer some unique benefits that other restorations can’t match, including:

  • Natural appearance
  • Restores chewing function
  • Secured to your jaw
  • Never removed
  • Easy to maintain
  • Stimulates healthy jawbone growth
  • Can last a lifetime with proper care

The Dental Implant Process

Restoring your smile with dental implants is a three-step process that’s completed over the course of several months. These steps include:

  1. Initial Consultation — During this visit, one of our dentists will examine the state of your oral health and determine if implants are the right choice for you. They’ll also answer any questions you have about the procedure.
  2. Implant Placement — Once you’re ready, we’ll place the implant post directly in your jaw and protect the surgical area to begin the healing process. You’ll need to allow three to six months for osseointegration, the process of your implant fusing with your jawbone.
  3. Final Restoration — Once osseointegration is complete and your jaw is fully healed, you can return to our office and finish the procedure. After we top your implant with a stunning porcelain crown, you can enjoy all the benefits of a healthy and beautiful smile.

Dental Implant Candidacy

happy young couple smiling outdoorsIf you want a restoration that looks and functions like your natural teeth, dental implants could be the solution you’ve been waiting for. During your initial consultation, one of our dentists will examine your teeth, gums, and jawbone to determine if you’re an immediate candidate.

If you suffer from gum recession or jawbone deterioration, we can prepare you for implants with a supplemental procedure. The most common supplemental treatment is bone grafting.

Questions/Comments

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do dental implants last?

Dental implants are highly durable and typically last for many years. If you maintain excellent oral hygiene and visit your dentist regularly, they can even last a lifetime.

How do you take care of your dental implants after the procedure?

You can maintain your implants just like natural teeth, with daily brushing and flossing. No special tools or cleaning products are necessary to keep your implants clean. However, we recommend using a soft-bristled brush and avoiding any brands of toothpaste with abrasive ingredients.

Are dental implants safe?

Dental implants are very safe — in fact, they’re the only tooth replacement that protects your long-term health in addition to enhancing your smile. Just make sure that your implant provider has plenty of experience and is well-qualified to perform the procedure.

Does my insurance cover my dental implants procedure?

Unfortunately, most dental insurance plans don’t cover dental implants, though some may cover a portion of your treatment. If you’re concerned about cost, ask your dentist about third-party financing options like CareCredit®.

What do I do in the event of a complication with my dental implants?

If you experience any issues with your implant, contact your dentist right away. Don’t attempt to fix the problem yourself, as you’ll likely end up making things worse and setting your treatment back even further.
